Target Groups
Young People
The aim of the Programme is to connect business with young people. By inspiring young people to consider a career in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM). The network of volunteer STEM ambassadors across the Highlands and Islands help to provide a future workforce for HIE key sectors.
Businesses and individuals who join the Programme benefit by:
-
Enhancing their reputation in the local community
-
Tap into the creative thinking of young people
-
Providing CPD for staff who strengthen their communication, planning and presentation skills
-
Motivation, engagement and staff retention
Target Audience:
-
Anyone who uses STEM skills and is willing and able to excite young people about STEM subjects can apply to become a STEM Ambassador.
Key sector businesses in particular those from energy, life sciences, creative and digital and advanced manufacturing.
Individuals who register as Ambassadors must attend a half day induction session locally to them. Sessions are run with a minimum of six participants and a maximum of 16. STEM Ambassadors are recruited on an ongoing basis and induction sessions are held throughout the year in a number of different locations depending on demand.
There is no minimum amount of time commitment from individuals/organisations; all that we ask is that they get involved in at least one activity a year.
