Technological and societal disruptions are coming at us thick and fast. Whilst we cannot predict the future, we can prepare for a future that is increasingly unpredictable.

Scotland’s citizens need the skills not only to cope with the change but to thrive in it, as well as to take advantage of change and create it themselves.

Preparing for Brexit

The UK and the EU have agreed to extend Article 50 until 31 October.

Under the terms of this extension, the UK could still leave the EU at an earlier date if a withdrawal agreement is approved, but could also still leave the EU without any withdrawal agreement.

Further delays remain possible, and the UK may enter a Transition Period once it does leave the EU.

EU, EEA or Swiss citizens would still be able to live, work and study in Scotland until the end of any Transition Period via Free Movement. 

In addition a new UK immigration system would come into practice
